Bishop, Priests and Parents grace the commissioning of Bishop Ernest Obodo Refectory

The auxiliary Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Enugu by name His Lordship Bishop Ernest Obodo once again visits the school, St Monica Girls’ comprehensive college Enugu to commission another infrastructural project which was also named after the officiating Bishop: Bishop Ernest Obodo Refectory.

The deplorable state of the old refectory was an issue of great concern. Moved by a sense of urgency, Rev Fr. Michael Amobi Ogbu, the present administrator of the school took it upon himself to rebuild the refectory and give the students a befitting place for meals. Amidst other reckoning challenges such as high inflation and low cash flow impeding the execution of the project, the admin still never relented until he brought the structure to life.

It was roughly a five months project which started in March 2021 and was completed/commissioned exactly on 5th August 2021.

There are so many face-lifting projects currently going on in the school which amongst others are the recently commissioned Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke Computer Lab/e-Library and the Bishop Ernest Obodo Refectory. Still ongoing is a two-storey students hostel targeted to house some students by September 2021.

“I encourage the parents who have girl-child or girl-children to be formed to register them at St Monica. St Monica is a school belonging to the church. Here we give close attention to the students and we look after them. We are not just producing students who would be literates, we are producing young ladies who would also be godly and have fear of God in them. We pursue academics, vocational training, spirituality and holiness together. So I advise the parents who are still contemplating joining the moving train that they are welcomed” Said Fr. Ogbu during a short interview.

In response to the development, the parents reacted positively. Below is a screenshot of some of the amazing responses:

The admission forms are still on sale and available at the Cathecist’s office at the Holy Ghost cathedral Ogui Enugu and also at the school gate, No. 1B Market Road Ogui Enugu, directly opposite Mother of Christ Maternity/Hospital.
